Dillon Gabriel is one step away from knocking out Shedeur Sanders, already practicing with the first team

What’s happening at the Cleveland Browns training camp is historic. The team, led by Kevin Stefanski, has all eyes on them due to the quarterback competition, with four players vying for the position – each with their own case: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and the media sensation Shedeur Sanders.

All the attention has been on Shedeur Sanders, and the truth is he hasn’t done badly. According to ESPN, in open practices to the media, he has thrown 9 touchdown passes and only 1 interception. However, he has not received any reps with the first team.

Despite those numbers, the fact that Shedeur hasn’t had any opportunity with the first team is a sign that it will be very difficult for him to be the starter – at least at the beginning of the season. Kevin Stefanski is likely to choose Joe Flacco, but the veteran quarterback will have a very small margin for error.

Dillon Gabriel Keeps Progressing and Could Beat Out Shedeur Sanders

Unlike Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel has taken reps with the first team – and he hasn’t looked bad. One of Gabriel’s standout traits is his competitive mentality. Let’s not forget he played at three different college programs: UCF, Oklahoma, and the Oregon Ducks, where he ended up shining.

One of the most important insiders covering the Cleveland Browns, Mary Kay Cabot, revealed that Dillon Gabriel is taking steps forward, and the fact that Kevin Stefanski has given him first-team reps is a clear sign that he’s making an impression.

“I think it’s very significant right now that they’re throwing first-teamers at Dillon. Dillon is playing with the first-team offense against the first-team defense. I mean, those are choice quality reps that he’s getting.”

Dan Labbe, another Browns insider, also revealed how there’s a current preference toward Gabriel: “When they do teamwork, Dillon Gabriel is the one who works with the first team. Shedeur Sanders continues to work down the depth chart.”

The former Oregon Ducks quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, has a certain advantage over Shedeur Sanders. The reason? It’s simple: Gabriel was selected in the third round of the recent Draft – two rounds higher than Sanders.
