The NBA has made it official that a game from its league will be played in Mexico in the next season. This time it will be Mexico City that will once again host an event of this magnitude when the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks meet on November 1.

This will be the 34th time the NBA has moved to Mexico since 1992 for one of its games to be played in the country. The game will be played at the Arena CDMX, which has a capacity of 22,300 spectators.

“We are significantly proud of the fact that the Mavericks organization and our fan base reflect the growing globalization of basketball and the NBA,” said Rick Welts, CEO of the Dallas team

“The vibrancy of Mexico City and the passion of its fans make it the perfect place to host these Global Games,” he added.

Although the NBA has not yet published its official schedule for the upcoming season, the designation of the game between the Pistons and Mavericks in Mexico is in line with the league’s usual international assignments, as they are usually announced earlier.

“Playing a regular season game in Mexico City will be a great experience for our players and coaches. We look forward to showcasing Detroit basketball to an international audience and a passionate and growing NBA fan base,” said Trajan Langdon, president of basketball operations for the Pistons.
