Detroit Lions’ Morice Norris breaks silence from hospital after scary injury

Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris Jr. is the subject of heartfelt relief and admiration after suffering a frightening injury during last Friday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The second-year player, who was carted off in an ambulance following a high-impact collision that left him motionless, has responded with a message of gratitude and reassurance to fans and teammates alike.

Norris, who signed with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State in 2024, endured a scary moment early in the fourth quarter.

While attempting to tackle Falcons running back Nathan Carter, Norris was struck forcefully in the head by Carter’s knee.

Medical staff attended to him for approximately 20 minutes on-field before he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Morice Norris’ hopeful message from hospital

Despite the severity of the incident, the Lions have confirmed that Norris remains in stable condition. He reportedly retains feeling and movement throughout his extremities and will stay hospitalized overnight “for observation.”

In a gracious and uplifting gesture, Norris took to social media to ease concerns, reposting a Bible verse and sharing a message of positivity: “Amen Amen. I’m all good man, don’t stress,” he wrote.

The gravity of the situation did not go unnoticed. Both teams displayed an uncommon level of solidarity – players gathered in prayer mid-field, and the game’s final minutes were forfeited as coaches Dan Campbell and Raheem Morris mutually agreed the contest should not resume.

Campbell later reflected on the incident’s emotional toll, emphasizing how moments like these serve as powerful reminders of the human side of football.

Though the injury was frightening, the response from both Norris and the Lions community has been nothing short of inspiring. His promise of recovery and expression of gratitude reflect not just physical resilience, but the strength of character that defines him. Fans and teammates alike are holding onto that positivity as we look forward to more hopeful updates in the days ahead.
