The Golden State Warriors want to build a powerhouse roster and surround their superstar, Stephen Curry, with additional talent capable of elevating the team into a true title contender for the 2025-26 season. With trade possibilities now in play, the West Coast franchise has been at the center of multiple rumors linking notable players from other teams as potential additions.
One name in particular has stood out: Derrick White has become the Warriors’ top target. However, securing him will not be easy, as Golden State faces multiple obstacles in its attempt to bring him in and have him wear a different uniform.
Dan Favale of Bleacher Report has provided information on this potential move, one that would significantly strengthen Curry and company in their effort to become a more competitive and consistent squad this season.
Derrick White would be the perfect puzzle piece for the Warriors
Brandin Podziemski. Others it as Moses Moody or Buddy Hield, have tried to become the perfect partner for Steph, but none have fully succeeded. All those attempts have fallen short, which is why the possibility of White arriving would be an ideal fit.
The guard would be the exact addition the Warriors need to ensure their star finds the right backcourt partner as they aim to overwhelm opposing teams.
White brings elite point-of-attack defense, rim protection rare for his position, efficient decision-making, and the ability to space the floor without needing touches. He’s also a proven playoff guard with championship equity.

Derrick is a proven 31-year-old player who would join the West Coast team to make them competitive immediately, not as a project requiring development or a roster redefinition built around him.
Given the impressive numbers he has recorded throughout his career, he would be an ideal complement to Curry.

The Boston Celtics would not let him go easily
According to information from Jake Fischer, the Celtics would only consider letting him go if they received a player of equal caliber in return.
To everyone’s surprise, Boston currently holds a 14-9 record this season, and it has not been the lost year many anticipated after Jayson Tatum’s season-ending Achilles injury. White and Jaylen Brown have kept the team near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, and the franchise has no intention of letting their momentum collapse.
The decision will be far from simple, but if the Warriors offer something that truly appeals to Boston, the trade could materialize without major complications, allowing White to suit up in a new jersey.
