Derek Carr recently expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Raiders’ fanbase in Oakland, showing he still holds deep affection for the team that drafted him. Carr began his NFL career with the Raiders after being selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, delivering standout performances throughout nine seasons with the franchise.

His tenure with the franchise, now based in Las Vegas, was marked by memorable performances, as he recorded 63 wins as a starting quarterback and became the team’s all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions, and attempts. His legacy with the Raiders remains firmly cemented in the record books.

Carr’s chapter with the Las Vegas Raiders came to an end after nine seasons, and he eventually joined the New Orleans Saints, where injuries ultimately led to his retirement. However, he is willing to return to his former team, the one that trusted him since the start.

The reason behind Carr’s departure from the Raiders

When Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler arrived in Las Vegas, Carr was initially part of their plans. However, after a six-game winning streak, he was unexpectedly benched for the remainder of the season.

Carr and the Raiders mutually agreed to part ways, as he was no longer seen as part of the team’s long-term plans. Therefore, he started searching for new horizons and places where he could play.

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders mutually decided it was time to part ways, as the veteran quarterback was no longer in the team’s future plans. As a result, Carr began exploring new opportunities and destinations to continue his playing career, and at that moment, he met with the New Orleans Saints.

Nevertheless, things with the team of Louisiana were not the best. After many injuries that accompanied him during his time in the franchise, he knew that it was time to say goodbye to professional football.

His new role in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Raiders owner Mark Davis has reportedly begun discussions with Carr about a possible return to the organization in a mentorship or coaching capacity of the team to see an opportunity for him to be part of the team. In an interview with NSN, confirm that Carr was talking with Davis for an expected return. Apart from praising the game style of the team, Carr talked about the conversations with Davis.

“I’ve already talked to Mr. Davis, we’ve already talked,” confirmed Derek Carr with the TV anchor, and added that, “We’re gonna talk and figure out what that looks like and when that looks like. But I can’t wait to get back to a Raiders game and get down there on the sideline and see the fans again, that’s my place.”

Now 34, Carr is awaiting a new opportunity to return to the sidelines at Allegiant Stadium, this time in a mentorship or coaching role, hoping to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation of players.
