Dennis Schröder’s only word after his sanction for the altercation with Luka Doncic

On December 28, 2025, the Sacramento Kings faced the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena in a game that ended in a 125-101 victory for J.J. Redick’s team and an altercation between Dennis Schröder and Luka Doncic off the court.

Fourteen days after the defeat, the NBA did not forget this incident and fined the German star for three games for an attempted assault on the Slovenian. And the 32-year-old guard did not remain silent.

Schröder reacts to his suspension with a single word

It all started on the court when Luka tried to provoke his opponent as he often does with others. “Should have signed that contract, baby,” Doncic reminded him, referring to the four-year, $84 million contract with the Lakers in 2021.

The truth is that this is not something Schröder likes to remember, because instead of accepting the contract extension, he signed a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics for only $5.9 million, which failed and led him to try his luck with seven different teams over four years.

The taunts and comments continued throughout the game, but everything seemed to calm down at the end of the game. However, this was not the case, and 40 minutes after the game, Schröder left the visitors’ locker room and went looking for Luka to confront him.

Following this situation, the NBA has decided to fine and suspend Schröder for the next three Kings games without pay.

Shams Charania also shared this news on his official Instagram account, but what surprised everyone was Schröder’s reaction, who commented on the post with a single word: “Attempting,” he wrote alongside an emoji of two eyes and another of laughter.

Meanwhile, Schröder will begin his suspension on Monday and will miss the Kings’ games against the Houston Rockets, the Lakers, and the New York Knicks. Thus, the suspension eliminates any possibility of an immediate face-off between Luka and Dennis.

The Kings guard could have the opportunity to play against Doncic on March 2, which will be Sacramento’s last game against the Lakers of the 25-26 season.
