Shedeur Sanders is one of the hottest commodities in the 2025 NFL Draft, and his father, the legendary Coach Prime, knows it. Aware that he must take care of his legacy and that of his son, Deion will carefully choose the coach who will complete his development. Boomer Esiason believes he knows who that coach will be.
After an almost dreamlike campaign, in which he led Colorado to the threshold of the College Football Playoff, Shedeur is one of the top prospects for this next draft. Analysts predict that the young Sanders will be among the first three picks, so his destiny will be between Tennessee, Cleveland, or New York.
However, analyst Boomer Esiason warns that Deion will not allow his son to land on just any team. According to the former Cincinnati Bengals star, Coach Prime knows that his son’s legacy will depend on the team he ends up with, and he won’t let just any coach take him under his wing.

The right coach for Shedeur
In his segment on WFAN Sports Radio, Esiason explained to his co-host Gregg Giannotti that Deion will not allow his son to play for the Titans or the Browns. “If you ask me, Tennessee and Cleveland, if I were Shedeur Sanders and Deion, I would not want to go there,” the former quarterback explained.
Esiason emphasized that it is vital for a young quarterback to land with a coach who knows how to develop his talent. “A lot of these guys that come out, you just never know. I didn’t know Bo Nix was going to be this successful, but I knew he was going to the right coach. So these guys have got to get to the right spot with the right coaches.”
Giannotti agreed with Esiason, saying, “If Deion is controlling what’s going on, there’s no way he lets Shedeur go to the Cleveland Browns. You can’t. If I were Shedeur Sanders, I would rather go to the Jets. That’s saying something. They may want to do it, but Deion is not going to let that happen.”
Brian Daboll to be the pick
Brian Callahan with the Titans and Kevin Stefanski with the Browns both had young talent under center and still went 3-14. It’s because of this failure that Coach Prime would veto either one.
If Esiason and Giannotti are right, the best option for Shedeur would be to land with the Giants. This is not only because of Brian Daboll’s ability to develop a young quarterback, but also because of the size of a market like New York compared to Tennessee and Cleveland, which is something that has always been important to the Sanders.
