Deion Sanders told the New York Jets not to “mess up” the chance to hire Louis Riddick for their general manager post as the Colorado Buffaloes’ coach tips the NFL executive to land the spot at the MetLife Stadium.
Woody Johnson’s franchise have been looking for a new GM since axing Joe Douglas in November, thus meaning they are possibly in the market for a new general manager, head coach and quarterback in the NFL offseason.

“Jets Please don’t mess this up,” Sanders posted to X.com, formerly Twitter. “And I pray this was a real interview and not that other thang y’all do.
“This man deserves a REAL CHANCE! He is knowledge & Class personified!”
Does Sanders have ulterior motives?
Riddick went on to become the Philadelphia Eagles’ director of pro personnel from 2010-2013 before pivoting to analysis with ESPN, and has since held interviews with the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Should he land the post then Sanders may be cozying up to the 55-year-old, who is a long-time friend, in order to make the switch from the NCAA to the NFL himself.
Currently head coach with the Buffaloes in college, Sanders could look for his next challenge after guiding his son and Travis Hunter to the pro game when they’re picked in the 2025 draft.
He has been connected to the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders as their head coaches, but nothing concrete has materialized yet.
The Jets are currently without a head coach after firing Robert Saleh in October, who has since joined the Green Bay Packers as an offensive consultant.
