Deion Sanders, Head Coach of Colorado, does not like the T-Step technique for cornerbacks. In a video with Bucky Brooks on NFL Network, the controversial coach shared his arguments against the movement and called it “stupid.”
“Let me teach you real quick how stupid the T-step is,” Sanders said. “I’m going to reach you real quick, Bucky.” He even joked that if one of his players used the technique, he’d “rip his facemask off.”
Former NFL cornerback went all in on Deion Sanders
Asante Samuel, a well-known former NFL cornerback, disagreed with Sanders and criticized his words as “ridiculous.” Samuel defended the movement as an essential technique for defensive players who practice football.
“I can’t stop laughing at how foolish he sounds,” Samuel tweeted. “You can’t control everything, sir. The first thing a cornerback is taught-never run out of breaks… Soooo, T-step is the perfect technique.”
However, Deion did not stay silent and fired back at Samuel: “Sir. Foolish. Lololol. God bless u, my brother. Tell them what this is really about. U forever taking a shot at the sky. Mickey Andrews is responsible for teaching us what I teach, and it sure seemed like it worked for us. Peace be still,” Sanders wrote.
Sanders has left his mark on the Colorado Buffaloes
Deion’s life, both personal and professional, has always been surrounded by controversy. However, no one can deny his success as a player and now as a Head Coach. Sanders is considered the greatest cornerback in NFL history and seems determined to make his mark as a coach.
In the NCAA, Deion took over the Colorado Buffaloes, a team that won only one game in 2022. After two years leading the program, Sanders has accumulated 13 victories, including a 9-win season last year.
Expectations are sky-high for the upcoming season, but he will have to face it without his two most important players, as they are heading to the NFL Draft: Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.
