Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders‘ level of confidence is one of his biggest virtues… but some also see it as one of his biggest flaws and one of the reasons why his youngest son, Shedeur Sanders, fell all the way to the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
It could explain why Shedeur, who had one of the best regular seasons in college football as a quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, was picked ater other NFL prospects that had an Ok performance at the collagiate level, including Tyler Shough, who was picked by the New Orleans Saints, and Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
Even NFL commisioner Roger Goodell warned Shedeur Sanders about his father’s comments during an NFL Honors ceremony, days before Super Bowl LIX. “I’m worried about your father.” Goodell told Shedeur, who didn’t know how to react at first and then he replied “What you worry about him for?” We don’t get to hear if the NFL commissioner responded to Sanders’ comments, but we do have a pretty good idea of what he replied.
Deion’s arrogant statement about why the NFL fears him
Deion Sanders is not one to back away from controversy and his latest Instagram post shows just that. During an interview, “Prime Time” was asked about his level of confidence and if that has got him in trouble before, to which the NFL Hall of Famer replied with a comment that some found arrogant.
“I make folks nervous, man. I get folks moving in their seat. I get folks twiddling their thumbs. I get them thinking and second guessing themselves. You know what? Have you ever been so clean that you walked in and somebody looked down at you and then they looked at themselves, they had to check themselves because you were so clean? I have that effect!” Deion said.
The Buffs head coach added a comment to his video. “This is why they are mad, upset, angry and don’t want me to exist! Then they lie on you to cover themselves and their true motives”. Even though Sanders did not clarify who did he meant by “they”, the sports world assumed that he was talking to Roger Goodell and all 32 NFL franchises.
Cleveland Browns coach talk about Shedeur Sanders
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski talked to ESPN Cleveland radio and gave some of his thoughts on Shedeur Sanders, the rookie who’s fighting to stay on the 53-man final roster the team is going to have before the 2025 regular season.
“Shedeur is a great kind. He’s working like crazy. He’s in there early, he’s getting his work done, he’s working really, really hard. I like everything about Shedeur,” Stefanski said, adding that he’s very impressed with the rookie’s work ethic, which is really important in the NFL.
The coach was asked if all four Browns quarterbacks – Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders – are actually competing for the starting job in Cleveland. “If you’re on our roster, you’re competing for a role, and the guy’s heard that from me, and it’s the truth. We don’t have to set the roster until late August,” Stefanski said.
