De la Hoya gives Canelo Alvarez the solution so he doesn’t have to retire

Among the many critical voices he received for his defeat against Terence Crawford, Canelo received some ‘love’ from Oscar de la Hoya to appease a little all the comments against him after the American took away all his world titles, who himself was very critical of the Jalisco after his defeat and whom he called a “poor clown”.

The former multiple world champion gave a key recommendation to Canelo for his future so that he can return to his former glory and recover that boxing fire that in Las Vegas seemed to be extinguished against the American Crawford.

De la Hoya went straight to the point by recommending Canelo to immediately dispense with Eddy Reynoso in order to have a different vision from the one he already has as a rule with his current trainer.

The former idol in the super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight, super welterweight and super middleweight categories believes that Canelo still has a lot of potential despite his age and the setback of a defeat (against Crawford) that was not in the analysis of most specialists.

“Get yourself a new trainer. You’ll do better. A new one will teach you new tricks,” was the recommendation made by the former multiple world champion to a Canelo who is being vilified by the boxing world after his defeat in Las Vegas.

This is an emotionally tough piece of advice for Canelo, as he has known Reynoso all his life, having been with Saul since he was 14 years old.

But De la Hoya did not stop at the words of dismissal, but gave him his recommendation for who can change his future from the corner; Floyd Mayweather Sr. “With his power and reflexes, he still has the chance to fight several more fights with the elite. It would revitalize his style and make him a new boxer.”
