Dazmin James’ viral body transformation sparks steroid rumors: From skinny speedster to DK Metcalf clone?

California Golden Bears wide receiver Dazmin James didn’t just hit the weight room this offseason – he seemingly exploded out of it.

In a jaw-dropping before-and-after photo that has gone viral, James appears to have morphed from lean Liberty Bowl breakout star into a chiseled powerhouse reminiscent of NFL phenom DK Metcalf. And it only took six months.

After transferring from Arkansas – where he logged three catches for 137 yards and a touchdown in the Liberty Bowl – James arrived at Cal and got to work. Last season he was listed at 196 lbs. Now? Fans say he looks every bit of Metcalf’s 229-lb frame. The result: a completely different player, physically and perhaps on the field.

Social media vs Dazmin James

The internet, however, isn’t buying it.

“Zero chance that’s a natural 6-month transition,” one X user wrote.

“That’s called 6 months of steroids,” added another.

Others warned he’d be “tested twice a month now.”

But not everyone was ready to cry foul. Some chalked it up to elite genetics, better nutrition, and a serious strength program.

“This is a tough one,” a more balanced user posted. “D1 receiver. Elite genetics. Probably grew up eating junk and never lifted. Put him in a new environment, with a real diet, and lifting program. It’s possible.”

It’s time for James to back up his transformation

Regardless of how it happened, James is now one of the most talked-about players in college football – and the season hasn’t even started. His transformation might raise eyebrows, but if he can back it up with dominant performances on Saturdays, no one will be questioning his results for long.

Good luck to the defensive backs trying to bring him down this fall.
