Interactions between fans and athletes often produce some of the strangest moments in sports. Just ask Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku, who recently experienced one of the most bizarre encounters of his career.
The Browns visited Paycor Stadium this week to face the Cincinnati Bengals in their final game of the regular season. Cleveland won 20-18, but the victory came too late to change their fate.
The win left the Browns with a 5-12 record, finishing last in the AFC North. The Bengals, meanwhile, fell to 6-11, placing third in the division. Both teams were already eliminated from playoff contention.
Njoku was sidelined with a knee injury, but that didn’t stop one enthusiastic fan from making a very unusual-and funny-request.
Njoku’s bizarre moment in the stands at Paycor Stadium
In a video posted to the NFL’s account on X (formerly Twitter), Njoku is seen approaching a group ofBrowns fans in the stands to sign an autograph.
At first, everything seemed normal. But then, the fan leaned over the railing and offered Njoku his prominent belly as the autograph surface.
Njoku reacted with a comical look of surprise before signing the fan’s stomach without hesitation, drawing cheers and laughter from the crowd.
What’s next for Njoku and the Browns
Unfortunately for Njoku and Browns fans, the season is over. The team will now shift focus to the offseason.
Njoku hasn’t played since Week 14 due to injury. This season also marked the final year of his four-year, $54.8 million contract extension signed in 2022.
Neither the team nor Njoku has commented on a possible trade or contract decision. Whatever the Browns decide, clarity will come in early March when free agency begins.
