David Benavidez’s victory over David Morrell put the Mexican Monster in a new position to seek to be light heavyweight champion and leave behind the goal of getting into the ring against Saul Alvarez, given Canelo’s refusal, although the new plan does not leave aside the resentment towards the Mexican and the idea that he chooses opponents at will.

According to The Ring magazine, Canelo Alvarez already has a deal to fight Terence Crawford, who although an undefeated and talented boxer, the weight difference may play a factor in favor of the Mexican, while Benavidez is already looking at his next goal which will be a challenge against the winner of the fight in which Artur Beterbiev, as undisputed light heavyweight champion will expose his titles against Dmitry Bivol, on February 22 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

At the weekend, Eddy Reynoso, Canelo’s trainer, went to watch Benavidez’s fight against Morrell at the T-Mobile Arena, although the spectacle may have generated more doubts than certainties to accept to get into the ring against either of the namesakes, from the Red Flag team the opinion does not change and they believe that: “Canelo is not going to want to fight”.

Benavidez Sr. hits out at Canelo again

Jose Benavidez Sr. was questioned by a reporter about Canelo’s refusal after the Mexican Monster’s triumph and agreed that after seeing his son’s dominant performance, he will be less willing to accept the fight.

“The only fighters Canelo Alvarez wants to see fight are too old or too young and inexperienced,” said David Benavidez‘s father.

While to further enhance the level his son is reaching, he sent a message to his next rivals, who should be aware of what awaits them with the fists of David Benavidez.

“There is too much punishment, too many punches, too many body shots and the confidence goes away,” said Benavidez Sr.
