Former British footballer David Beckham (London, 1975) turned 50 on Friday and said in a social media post that although he feels “blessed” by all the things he has experienced in this half century, the greatest achievement of his life will always be his family.
Beckham reflected on his life journey on Instagram and said he is “grateful” for all the teams he has played for, for being able to be the captain of the England team, for his business and for the children he has met during his charity work. “But my greatest achievement is and always will be my family,” said the former footballer in the post, accompanied by photographs of different moments in his life.
Beckham said that his parents, Ted and Sandra, “sacrificed” a lot so that he could live his dream of becoming a footballer and also recalled how his sisters had to “put up with” watching him play in the open air.
His wife, Victoria Beckham, he described as his “best friend” for 28 years, and said that, along with their four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, are the reason he gets out of bed every day. “Thank you for making me smile and thank you for making me a better man. I love you so much. Thank you for making today special for me. You are my world,” the former footballer concluded on social media.

Victoria also celebrated her husband’s 50th birthday on Instagram with a compilation video of various moments of the couple and Beckham in his more paternal and light-hearted side.
“When I look at this video, I think, ‘Wow, how lucky I am!’ You are everything I could have dreamed of and more. Happy 50th @DavidBeckham! I love you endlessly and our beautiful family. You complete me,” wrote the former Spice Girls member.
