The Japanese player recorded two hits in the first game of the series and subsequently hit his first home run of the season in the second game.

Dave Roberts and praise for Shohei Ohtani

The batter’s great performance has brought him several accolades, one of them from Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

When interviewed by Jared Carrabis for Baseball is Dead, the ‘Doc’ said that he doesn’t mind being asked about the Japanese star, on the contrary, he is aware that he may be managing the best player in the history of baseball.

“No, no, it’s funny, you know, people always say, ‘Hey, Doc, are you tired of being asked about The Steal? I’m part of history in Boston, so in my case, no. And with Shohei Ohtani, in the sense that I can manage arguably the greatest player of all time, so absolutely not. I’d rather be it than face Shohei Ohtani. So I’m in a good position,” Roberts said.

Since his arrival in MLB in 2018, Shohei Ohtani has achieved worldwide fame, becoming one of the most popular players today, as he has maintained his extraordinary performance, thrilling every time he takes the diamond.

In December 2023, the Japanese star joined the Dodgers to play 10 years with the team for $700 million. He previously spent six years with the Angels.

2024 was a great year for Ohtani, he was the Dodgers’ designated hitter and won his first World Series. In a historic regular season, the three-time MVP recorded the first 50-50 season in MLB.
