Dave Roberts left scratching his head to rebuild Dodgers rotation with Tyler Glasnow injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers exacerbated the problems they face with their starting rotation after losing Tyler Glasnow to injury on Sunday, who was only able to complete one inning in the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Glasnow reported shoulder inflammation while warming up for the second inning.

A few hours later, the news worsened, as the team reported that Glasnow would go on the 15-day disabled list and his place would be provisionally taken by Noah Davis from Triple-A.

The news further complicates the Dodgers’ starting rotation, as Blake Snell is also on the 15-day disabled list with the same injury, while Clayton Kershaw will not be available to the team until May 18 and Shohei Ohtani is receiving limited playing time on the mound to allow him to complete his elbow rehabilitation and manager Dave Roberts does not want to press him

“At full strength, this is a superteam, and we’re not going to see them at full strength for a while. Unfortunately, Kershaw won’t be back until May 18. Ohtani, I think they’re holding him back on purpose. It will be the second half for him,” said MLB expert Jon Heyman

“Over time, you reach a critical point. Snell is out, Glasnow is out for a while, Ohtani is not pitching. Although Yamamoto is excellent, Sasaki might not be this year, but he will be in the future. But, over time, you reach a critical point,” added Brian Kenny.

With so many starters injured, this means an additional test for the Angels’ bullpen, which is also of high quality, but will also be closely monitored to prevent relievers from getting injured

Tyler Glasnow and his injury problem with the Dodgers

The Dodgers negotiated with the Tampa Bay Rays before the start of last season to bring Glasnow to Southern California along with Manuel Margot in exchange for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca.

Since then, the starter has been on the injured list three times with the Dodgers: a back injury last year, then an elbow sprain that ended his season in August. Now, he has a shoulder problem. It’s a frustrating situation for a pitcher who spent the preseason adjusting his routine to try to stay healthy this year. He didn’t make it.
