The next game features two mound icons: Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer. The game between the Dodgers and Blue Jays is of enormous importance in the quest for divisional dominance as it pits two of the best pitchers against each other.

This unique duel has ignited the excitement of the fans, however, manager Dave Roberts does not lose sight of what is really important: the fight to maintain the divisional lead.

This clash between Kershaw and Scherzer is not only attractive because of its history, but also because of what it represents: two pitchers with multiple World Series titles, three Cy Young Awards and more than 3,000 strikeouts each.

Dave Roberts excited for Kershaw-Scherzer duel

Roberts expressed his excitement for this clash of talents, while making it clear that these types of rivalries are special, but outside of his strategic approach:

It’s going to be really good, you won’t see it very often. I have a lot of respect for Max, and obviously for Clayton, it’s going to be good

Dave Roberts

The Dodgers’ season is at a critical point. As Kershaw and Scherzer prepare for this duel, the pressure to maintain the lead in the National League West remains latent.

Roberts knows that, beyond the individual spectacle, what counts in the long run is to add victories in the face of the playoffs:

“If you start to put importance on this matchup and you focus on this, you’re going to overlook other things. They won the World Series last year. They’re the champions. You want a shot at the champions. You want to beat them. That’s what this game is all about.” Dave Roberts

Who is better Clayton Kershaw or Max Scherzer?

/Especial

Clayton Kershaw is one of the most dominant pitchers of his generation and one of the main faces of the Dodgers. He has been recognized with three Cy Young Awards, a National League MVP and has been selected to multiple All-Star Games.

Kershaw has combined almost surgical technical dominance with consistency that has made him the face of the Los Angeles rotation for more than a decade. His legacy includes more than 3,000 strikeouts and a World Series ring won in 2020, cementing him as one of the greatest left-handed pitchers in MLB history

Max Scherzer is synonymous with intensity and excellence on the mound. A three-time Cy Young Award winner in both leagues (AL and NL), Scherzer has played a crucial role on every team he has pitched for, including the Tigers, Nationals, Dodgers, Mets and now the Blue Jays.

His resume includes a no-hitter, multiple All-Star appearances and a World Series championship in 2019 with the Washington Nationals.
