Despite being one of the most criticized managers in recent years, Dave Roberts can only point out that he has also been one of the winningest, both in the regular season and the postseason. In fact, during this very World Series, he could match or surpass a mythical figure in baseball.

But standing in his way are a dangerous Blue Jays team, hungry for victory since they haven’t won a title since 1993.

Dave Roberts could match or surpass Bobby Cox

And let’s be honest: Bobby Cox is no ordinary name. In fact, many consider him one of the greatest managers ever, and it’s precisely this manager that Dave Roberts could catch-if the Dodgers secure at least two more postseason wins.

If he manages three more wins in this postseason, Roberts wouldn’t just surpass Bobby Cox-he’d also be very close to earning his third World Series ring.

In doing so, he would join an elite group of managers with three titles, alongside Sparky Anderson, Miller Huggins, Tony La Russa, and John McGraw-the fourth-most in MLB history.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are favorites to win the World Series again, and they would do so for the second straight year. It would be the first time a team has won back-to-back titles since 2000, when the New York Yankees strung together three.
