Dave Roberts and the Dodgers could lose one of their best allies

The Fall Classic is played on Friday, October 24 between the Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. With the Los Angeles team as the favorite, the Canadians will have to make an extra effort to win the four games necessary if they want to take the Major League title. However, a topic came up to unbalance the candy world of Dave Roberts’ team, as they could lose one of their best allies from the bench.

Shohei Ohtani and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. arrive with the Dodgers and Blue Jays, respectively, as the top figures who will seek to give their team the coveted Commissioner’s Trophy. The former of these produced the best individual performance in MLB Playoff history. It was against the Milwaukee Brewers, during Game 4 of the National Championship Series, when the Japanese shone by striking out from the mound and batting for more than two home runs.

Danny Lehmann would join the Atlanta Braves

As the Los Angeles Dodgers prepare to play their second consecutive World Series, bench coach Danny Lehmann appears to be moving up the ranks to become the next manager of the Atlanta Braves. According to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, Lehmann’s candidacy “seemingly has been strengthened” in recent weeks.

The position at the Braves became vacant on October 1 when the club announced that Brian Snitker, who had been its manager since May 2016, would step down and move into an advisory role. After retiring as a player in 2014, Lehmann has worked under a variety of titles in the Dodgers organization since then, often providing insight to manager Dave Roberts and impressing with his bandwidth.

It is possible that Atlanta has other managerial candidates in mind, perhaps some on the Dodgers or Blue Jays staff. But it would make sense for Lehmann to at least interview for a managerial position at some point, given his stated interest in the position, his rapid rise through the organization and the Dodgers’ success in the Lehmann era. That time could be now.

Who will start for the Dodgers and Blue Jays in Game 1 of the World Series?

Given the dominance of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting pitching in the postseason, manager Dave Roberts could choose anyone in the rotation and feel good about his team’s chances. Nevertheless, Roberts confirmed this line of thinking Tuesday by announcing that Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start Friday and Saturday in Toronto against the Blue Jays. Both will work on 10 days’ rest.

On the other hand, Toronto Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage will start the first game of the World Series on Friday against the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers and Blake Snell. However, the decision to activate shortstop Bo Bichette has not yet been officially made. Blue Jays manager John Schneider reported that Bichette, a two-time All-Star, has recovered from a sprained left knee that kept him out for a month and a half and could be activated for the World Series.
