Dave Roberts, the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, once again downplayed the positive impact that Roki Sasaki could have on the team.
The manager spoke about the Japanese pitcher’s second outing in the minor leagues, specifically in Triple-A with the Oklahoma City team, as part of his injury rehabilitation.
What did Dave Roberts say about Roki Sasaki’s performance?
“It was definitely better than the first one. I think the confidence in getting hitters out is increasing, and his repertoire is improving. After next week, we’ll have a better idea of where we are in the big leagues and how he is.”“I think he needs to keep improving. But this is his second rehab assignment. I think he was between 94 and 97 (miles per hour – mph), which is really good, and then another increase that is our expectation, that should work here. But yes, we still have to prepare him and he still has to perform.”
“I wouldn’t say I’m concerned, but the expectation is that it will get into the 90s. But it was his first one, and I want to talk to him personally to know a little bit more about it. But yes, it was a bit surprising.”
