Davante Adams thinks about 2,000 yards, but says his priorities are collective

Davante Adams’ arrival at the Los Angeles Rams has raised expectations in the NFL. After signing a two-year, $44 million contract in March, the veteran wide receiver joins an already explosive offense with the likes of Matthew Stafford and young prodigy Puka Nacua. With training camp underway, the conversation has quickly turned to the potential of this formidable receiving duo and in particular, the possibility of Adams reaching the elusive 2,000-yard mark in a season.

Adams, known for his competitive mindset and commitment to the team, has offered a calmer perspective on this individual milestone. Although he is fully confident in his ability to achieve it, the receiver has made it clear that his priorities lie in collective success, beyond personal statistics.

A team mentality

In a recent appearance on the “Up & Adams” show, Davante Adams was directly asked by Kay Adams who he thinks will be the first to surpass 2,000 receiving yards in 2025: himself or his teammate Puka Nacua? Adams had no hesitation in acknowledging his ability. “I feel like I can get 2k. I feel like that wouldn’t be that crazy,” he said. However, his response went beyond personal ambition. “I don’t know how much I want to have 2k on this team,” he added, explaining that his enjoyment and excitement in the game comes more from collective achievements than individual ones.

Adams emphasized that while he is always ready to catch every ball thrown his way if the team needs him to, his true passion is ignited when it is his teammates who score. “When one of my guys scores, I’m the most excited person in the world,” he said.

A single collective ambition

The addition of Davante Adams, who in 2024 amassed more than 1,000 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, elevates the firepower of a Rams offense that has already proven to be formidable. In 2024, the Los Angeles team had a remarkable performance in the playoffs, reaching the divisional round of the National Football Conference (NFC), where they fell narrowly to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite the defeat, that game was the closest Philadelphia faced on its way to the title, highlighting the Rams’ potential. With Adams joining Stafford and Nacua, Los Angeles’ offense is shaping up to be one of the most versatile and explosive in the entire NFL and with it, the goal and ambition is great: to return to the Super Bowl.
