When personal life is not going well, the professional side suffers, and if not, ask Danny Garcia, who experienced a rather turbulent 2024 that made him rethink the importance of family, regardless of his resilience.
Several boxing and other sports professionals expressed their support for the legendary Puerto Rican boxer after his father suffered a stroke, in contrast to the advent of his newborn baby (his third child), so his successful career with a record of 37 fights won by only four setbacks suffered an impasse after dramatically losing to Erislandy Lara last September.
The misfortune does not detract from the boxer’s positivity
Danny Garcia made an important reflection at this time of year through his Instagram account: “In 2024, my spirit was put to the test. My father suffered a stroke and suddenly the things that used to motivate me were no longer the same. I tried to fight, but my fighting spirit wasn’t there. God gave me my beautiful son, but he took away some of my father’s health (…) This year was a lot of ups and downs for me, but I still wake up every day with a smile on my face. Joy wouldn’t feel so good if it wasn’t for the pain,” said the famous ‘Swift’.
Solidarity from the sporting world for Garcia
Among the famous colleagues who showed solidarity with Garcia were boxer Edgar Berlanga, who wrote: “God bless you king”; and Antonio Tarver, who wished “Happy holidays to the Garcia’s praying for a full recovery Angel”. Two great NFL figures also did the same, wide receivers A.J. Brown, who described him as a “True champion of life” and Rasheed Bailey who prayed for him and his family.
Nobody at this stage is sure of Garcia’s professional future, now that he wants to spend significant time with his family, but it was the pugilist himself who left the story open by promising his fans that he will return mentally, spiritually and physically stronger in 2025.
