Daniel Cormier and the UFC world react to the death of George Foreman: “I will remember him all my life”

With deep sadness, the family of George Foreman, one of the most feared heavyweights in history, announced his death on Friday night at the age of 76, leaving an immense void in the boxing world.

“A devoted preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility and purpose,” the family wrote in a statement

George Foreman, who won Olympic gold in 1968 and captivated generations, will always be remembered for his strength and spirit in the unforgettable duel against Muhammad Ali in the “Rumble in the Jungle”, a fight that marked a before and after in the history of boxing.

Daniel Cormier and the UFC world react to this unexpected news

The combat sports community reacted immediately to this tragic news that left everyone in shock, one of them was Daniel Cormier, former world champion of the UFC

“Rest in peace, great champion! A true gentleman. The fact that he took the time to train me is a memory I will cherish forever; a dream come true,” wrote the former fighter on his Instagram account

That was not all, as current UFC world champion Jon Jones also reacted from the Instagram stories section:

“Rest in peace, George Foreman,” he posted

UFC president Dana White also took to social media to leave a brief message.

“RIP, Big George,” shared Dana

A clear example that it does not matter the sport, whether boxing or mixed martial arts, the legacy of George goes beyond his skills in the ring, but his family values and the great person he was. There is no doubt that his legacy will live on.
