Dan Quinn takes the worst of collision with Marcus Mariota

In the game between the Washington Commanders and the Las Vegas Raiders, Washington’s head coach, Dan Quinn, ended up taking the worst of it after a collision with his own quarterback, Marcus Mariota.

The incident occurred following a play in which Mariota scrambled to gain additional yards. As he ran out of bounds near the sideline, he unexpectedly collided with Quinn. The impact was significant, leaving the coach shaken and briefly stunned, while the quarterback managed to stay on his feet.

The hit looked dramatic in real time, and while Mariota appeared largely unharmed, Quinn absorbed the full force of the collision. Attempting to slow his quarterback down, the coach was instead knocked backward, losing his balance and hitting the turf hard, with his head even bouncing off the grass as he fell.

Immediately, fellow coaches, staff members, and several players rushed over to assist him. To everyone’s relief, Quinn quickly got back to his feet, reassuring those around him that he was okay. His first concern seemed to be calming down his team rather than focusing on his own discomfort.

The source of the bleeding was identified as his nose, which was struck by Mariota’s shoulder during the collision. The subsequent fall to the ground only added to the dramatic nature of the moment.

The injury turned out to be minor, resulting in a scrape on the upper part of his nose. While not serious, the sight of blood caught the attention of both fans in the stadium and those watching on television. Shortly afterward, Quinn gave a live interview to the network broadcasting the game, explaining that there was no cause for concern.

I’m OK. Everything’s good,” Quinn said. “Just gonna be this kinda day where it’s a physical game, back and forth, and that’s what we expected coming in.

In the end, the incident was nothing more than a brief scare and quickly became a secondary storyline, especially as the Commanders were in control of the game. With their strong performance, Quinn’s mishap was soon overshadowed by the team’s dominant play.

Despite being without their starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels, Washington has managed to remain one of the NFC’s top contenders. Mariota, stepping into the starting role, has effectively maintained the offensive rhythm Daniels established earlier in the season.

Looking ahead, the Commanders will host the Atlanta Falcons in their next matchup. It promises to be a challenging contest, but given Washington’s current form and momentum, they have a strong chance of securing another victory.

Although there is still a long way to go before the postseason, maintaining this level of intensity and consistency is crucial. For Quinn and his team, staying healthy and focused will be essential as they continue their push toward a potential playoff run.
