Dan Campbell attacks NCAA players’ lack of commitment and rules them out for the Detroit Lions

The Lions want to surpass their 2024 NFL performance, even though last year’s performance was phenomenal. To achieve that, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell firmly believes they won’t need NCAA players, as their lack of commitment and volatility make them unreliable.

This upcoming NFL season, the Lions are looking, at the very least, to make the playoffs again by reaching the final stages of the league. In the previous season, Campbell’s team achieved a record of consecutive victories, demonstrating strategic superiority on the ground and in the air, but their Super Bowl dream ended in the Divisional Round.

Dan Campbell reveals which players have been cut from the Lions

Campbell looks for hard-working players who are ready to compete at the highest level. During a recent appearance on LiucciCast, Campbell revealed that college players who have transferred multiple times are being eliminated from the Lions’ draft.

Detroit only drafted three players this year who had transferred during their college careers. Two of them transferred to play football at a higher level: Isaac TeSlaa, Miles Frazier (who went from FIU to LSU for his final three years), and Dominic Lovett (a seventh-round draft pick who transferred from Missouri to Georgia).

“We’ll come back stronger” – Campbell after loss to Commanders

In January, following the Detroit Lions’ NFC Divisional Round loss to Washington, Campbell received a text message from All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. The loss, after having earned the number one seed for the first time in team history, continued to haunt both of them.

“I know the guys, [the loss] eats at them,” he emphasized. “I know the right guys, they’re our guys for a reason, and that’s what will always give me hope and let me know that we’re only going to get better. We’re going to come back stronger, we’re going to learn from this, it is what it is”.
