Smith will be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever wear the Dallas Cowboys jersey, a jersey his son wore during the press conference for his retirement, where he spoke about the team’s current quarterback.
“One of the best teammates I’ve ever had. Dak cares deeply about everyone in the locker room, and he’s more than a teammate-he’s a lifelong friend,” Smith read with great emotion during his retirement speech.
While it’s a day to celebrate Smith’s career, it’s worth noting that he’s not the only one-several others have praised the kind of player and person Dak Prescott is.
There’s no doubt that being the quarterback of this team must be one of the most high-pressure jobs in professional sports, perhaps in the world, yet Prescott has always carried that role with immense class.
During the last season, Prescott saw his year cut short due to an unfortunate injury. However, he is expected to return for the upcoming campaign in peak physical condition to lead the Cowboys.
