It was a matchup between two teams desperate for a preseason victory, as neither had managed to secure a win in their previous two outings. But there could only be one winner, and this time it was the Dallas Cowboys who came out on top, earning an important triumph over the Atlanta Falcons at AT&T Stadium.

Brian Schottenheimer can breathe a sigh of relief after the Dallas Cowboys secured a crucial victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The team has been navigating turbulent waters amid front-office struggles, but this win provided a much-needed sense of calm. Even more importantly, several young players stepped up, showcasing strong performances that could shape the roster ahead of the regular season.

Dallas Cowboys take early lead in first two quarters

With hope and determination, the Dallas Cowboys opened their final preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons with intensity. Under the direction of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, the team set the tone early, showing clear superiority in the first quarter

Joe Milton III set the tone early, punching in a one-yard rushing touchdown with 7:47 left in the first quarter. Brandon Aubrey converted the extra point to give the Cowboys an early lead and keep the momentum rolling. Not long after, Jaydon Blue powered to the left for another one-yard score, with Aubrey again reliable on the extra kick.

In the second quarter, the Falcons came alive and put pressure on the Cowboys, looking to close a 14-0 deficit on the scoreboard. Kicker Younghoe Koo converted a 38-yard field goal at 10:51 to put Atlanta on the board. Moments later, Felipe Franks hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass from Easton Stick, with Koo adding the extra point to narrow the gap.

Despite the Falcons’ pressure, the Cowboys responded in the final seconds of the half. Brandon Aubrey delivered a stunning 64-yard field goal, sending the AT&T Stadium crowd into celebration and extending Dallas’ lead to 17-10 at halftime in favor of “America’s Team.”

After halftime, the Cowboys returned to the field determined to reassert their dominance, replicating the energy they showed in the opening quarter. Their efforts paid off early, as with 12:31 left in the third, Jalen Brooks hauled in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Joe Milton III.> Brandon Aubrey remained flawless, converting the extra point to extend Dallas’ lead.

The fourth quarter was calm, with the Cowboys maintaining their dominance. Despite early pressure from the Falcons, Younghoe Koo connected on a 28-yard field goal at 14:13, and eight minutes later, Phillip Mafah rushed for a one-yard touchdown. Brandon Aubrey added the extra point, solidifying Dallas’ control.

The Cowboys closed out their preseason on a high note, celebrating their victory at AT&T Stadium.
