Dak Prescott received a warning for 2026; Dallas Cowboys fans can be happy

Since the season began, projections did not favor the Dallas Cowboys after they missed the playoffs a year ago. In addition, the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles, their divisional rivals, reached the NFC Championship Game, making competition in the NFC East look especially tough.

Projections suggested the Cowboys would finish with between 7 and 9 wins, which would make it difficult to qualify for the playoffs. It turns out those projections were accurate: Dallas currently holds a 6-7-1 record and, with three weeks remaining in the regular season, has only a 1% chance of making the playoffs, according to multiple simulations. The reality is that it is practically impossible.

The Dallas Cowboys entered the season with an attractive offense led by Dak Prescott, but with one of the worst defenses in the NFL. To make matters worse, one week before the season started, the team lost its best player, Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round draft picks.

The future looks bright for the Dallas Cowboys

Despite everything the Dallas Cowboys have gone through, it seems the future could be bright for the team, or at least they will remain competitive within the division. It is worth noting that although the Philadelphia Eagles are likely to win the division title again, their long-term future does not look very promising, while the Washington Commanders suffered a collapse during the 2025 season.

The other team is the New York Giants, who appear to have a positive future with Jaxson Dart, although it remains to be seen who will be hired as head coach and whether Joe Schoen will remain as general manager or be fired. This opens the door for the Dallas Cowboys, led by Dak Prescott, to compete for the division once again. Additionally, All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who arrived in a trade with the New York Jets, has made an impressive impact.

The defense has improved, although there are still areas that need to be addressed-something Jerry Jones may focus on during the upcoming offseason. Former NFL quarterback Matt Ryan spoke about the Dallas Cowboys, saying: “This team is built to make a run… The talent is there,” during an appearance on Up & Adams.

For now, the Cowboys have three games left this season against the Chargers, Commanders, and New York Giants. Dallas fans started the season frustrated, but it appears they will finish it with a bit of optimism heading into next year.
