Dak Prescott offers important advice to George Pickens and sends a subtle dig at Jerry Jones

The Dallas Cowboys face their final regular season game against the New York Giants before heading into a decisive offseason. Beyond the sporting result, the franchise will have to resolve one of the most delicate issues of its immediate future: the continuity of star receiver George Pickens.

The player, acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers last summer, exceeded all expectations by becoming the team’s leader in receiving yards and one of the top five receivers in the entire NFL in that category. Along with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, he elevated Dallas’ aerial attack to the most dominant in the league.

A million-dollar contract on the horizon

With this impact, Pickens aims to become one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. However, the situation is not straightforward for the Cowboys. The recent breakdown in negotiations with Micah Parsons left tensions in the organization and forces management to handle this new process more cautiously.Jerry Jones has already hinted that he wants to get directly involved in the talks with Pickens, although the player has made it clear that he will trust the process to his representative to avoid distractions.

Prescott advises Pickens: “Don’t take it personal”

Dak Prescott knows what it’s like to go through a tough negotiation with the Cowboys. The quarterback, who has already signed two extensions with the franchise – including the four-year, $240 million deal – decided to send a direct message to Pickens: patience and a cool head.

“I agree with George on a lot of things, but don’t make it personal. This is a business,” Prescott said. “Jerry and I also went through some not-so-pleasant times, but when you sign, you shake hands and it’s all behind you,” he continued.

Prescott insisted that economic differences will arise during negotiations that can be frustrating, but the focus must remain on performing on the field.

Pickens ready for the challenge

The receiver, who was recently selected to his first Pro Bowl, said he is ready for whatever comes his way.

“I definitely leave that to my agent, but I’m super prepared,” he said.

Pickens closed the regular season with 92 receptions, 1,420 yards and nine touchdowns, participating in all 16 games of the year. While his future is being negotiated, the player says he will remain focused on training, taking care of himself physically and staying ready for whatever comes his way.

Dallas knows that keeping its new offensive star could set the course for the franchise. Now, the ball is in the management’s court.
