Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott bowed his head in a powerful moment of silence in memory of his late teammate Marshawn Kneeland, who tragically passed away in November at just 24 years old.

Before the Cowboys took on the Las Vegas Raiders in the Monday Night Football primetime showing, various tributes were made to Kneeland after his shock death – just two days after scoring a touchdown.

Prescott‘s was one of the most powerful before the game got underway, wearing a focused and emotional expression as he remembered his fallen team-mate.

Prescott also wore a tribute on his white wrist tape bearing the words “One Love”, a phrase that was said to be one of Kneeland‘s favorites – and clearly one that meant a great deal to Prescott himself.

A poignant moment to remember Kneeland

The tribute came before what was likely one of the most emotionally charged games in the season for the Dallas Cowboys. It was a signal not only of grief, but of unity – a reminder that the bond between teammates often goes far beyond the X’s and O’s.

Kneeland‘s death sent shockwaves through the Dallas Cowboys organization and the NFL. The 24-year-old defensive end passed away in November, leaving behind his family, friends, and teammates.

His passing prompted an outpouring of grief, with the Cowboys honoring him through helmet decals bearing his number 94, commemorative t-shirts, and public moments of reflection.

For Prescott to write “One Love” on his wrist wasn’t just a symbolic gesture. That phrase was deeply associated with Kneeland.

By wearing it as he played, Prescott turned it into a rallying cry – a way to carry his teammate’s spirit with him on every snap.

Beyond football: a call for support

The emotional weight of the moment did not go unnoticed by the team or the fans. It became a focal point of pre-game coverage and a reminder that the Dallas Cowboys are not just a football team – they are a community in mourning.

The Dallas Cowboys have committed to keeping his memory alive, including initiatives like a memorial fund to support his family and charitable efforts in his name.

Kneeland‘s death has amplified conversations about mental health within the NFL and among the Dallas Cowboys specifically. Prescott‘s emotional gesture highlights how players are not immune to grief, and how the bonds they build are deeply personal.

As the season continues, the legacy of Marshawn Kneeland will remain a source of strength for the Dallas Cowboys. For Dak Prescott, that “One Love” tribute was not just for show – it was a message. To his teammates. To his fans. And to anyone struggling: he hasn’t forgotten, and he’s playing to remember.

Cowboys put on a show vs. Raiders

Dak Prescott‘s tribute carried extra weight given the context of the game.

Under the emotional haze, Prescott commanded the Dallas Cowboys offense, throwing three touchdown passes in the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders, helping the team build a commanding 24-9 lead by halftime.

Prescott found CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Jake Ferguson in the endzone in the first half alone, before Ryan Flournoy added to the party.

Tre Tucker finally replied for the Raiders but the damage was done as the game finished 33-16 to Dallas, who improve to 4-5-1.

His on-field performance was more than an athletic statement – for Prescott and the rest of the locker room, it felt like a vow: to honor Kneeland‘s life by playing with the heart and passion he showed every day.
