Dak Prescott hints he still doesn’t see the Cowboys as serious Super Bowl contenders in a direct message to Jerry Jones

The departure of Micah Parsons dealt a major blow to the Dallas Cowboys. Analysts and fans alike continue to question the front office’s decision to trade the star pass rusher to the Green Bay Packers. Even quarterback Dak Prescott appears to be grappling with the move.

With the regular season just days away, one of the most pressing questions is how Parsons’ absence will impact the team’s chances of reaching a Super Bowl-a feat that has eluded Dallas for over 30 years.

The arrival of defensive tackle Kenny Clark, plus the two first-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027 the team obtained in exchange for Parsons, signals the beginning of a much-needed rebuild. But not everyone is convinced the trade was worth it.

Prescott casts doubt on Cowboys’ Super Bowl aspirations

In his first press conference since Parsons’ departure, quarterback Dak Prescott expressed relief that the long-standing impasse had finally ended. Yet, he didn’t shy away from voicing concerns about the team’s trajectory.

“I’m not going to say we’re better,” Prescott said when asked about the trade. “We’ve got to go out there and prove it. We had to prove it even if he [Parsons] was on this team, so I’m not going to say that by any means.”

Prescott praised Clark’s arrival, calling him a “true leader,” and emphasized that the team is focused on their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I think that’s everybody’s focus in that locker room. I don’t think anybody’s hung up on [the Parsons trade],” he added.

Will Jerry Jones take issue with Prescott’s comments?

Prescott’s remarks may not sit well with team owner Jerry Jones, who has faced heavy criticism for orchestrating the trade. As the Cowboys aim to reclaim their former glory, Jones is likely hoping for unwavering support from his franchise quarterback.

With a brutal schedule ahead and a division rival as their first opponent, the Cowboys face an uphill battle. Prescott’s lack of full confidence in the team’s direction could be a troubling sign-not just for management, but for fans hoping this is finally the year.
