Dak Prescott achieves what no one thought possible: Stephen A. Smith and Colin Cowherd forced to change their minds

This season, Dak Prescott has achieved what many thought impossible: even longtime skeptics like Colin Cowherd and Stephen A. Smith have publicly changed their minds about him.

His performance with the Dallas Cowboys has forced the media to reconsider both his talent and leadership, completing 71.4 percent of his passes for 1,881 yards with 16 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

His precision and efficiency have kept the Cowboys competitive in nearly every game this season and sees him in the MVP race alongside the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey and Baker Mayfield.

Colin Cowherd, previously critical of Prescott, acknowledged on The Herd that the quarterback deserves higher odds as he continues to lead the AT&T Stadium to the NFL Playoffs.

“He’s ninth in MVP odds. That’s insane! He’s gotta be near the top,” Cowherd said, admitting his prior view of Prescott underestimated his capabilities. He also praised Prescott for his impact on his teammates, particularly George Pickens.

“George Pickens was a talented highlight guy,” Cowherd continued. “Now, he’s a drama-free talented production guy.

“Do not understate how Dak Prescott has soothed and lowered the temperature on George Pickens.”

Pickens has responded well, producing what looks to be his best season. Through midseason, he has recorded 36 receptions for 607 yards and six touchdowns, showing the influence of Prescott‘s leadership and ability to optimize his offense’s weapons.

Stephen A. Smith tips Cowboys for NFL Playoffs run

Even Smith, known for consistently mocking Prescott and “America’s Team,” has adjusted his perspective.

This week, he publicly acknowledged that a playoff run is possible if Dallas’ offense continues to perform and the defense shows improvement.

“If he goes out and tweaks and this defense shows anything,” Smith said to ESPN. “And the Dallas Cowboys make it to the playoffs with that offense and dare I say, they win a playoff game, we all got to stand down.”

The shift in tone from Cowherd and Smith demonstrates the undeniable impact Prescott has had.

His consistency, poise, and leadership are now impossible to ignore, forcing analysts to reconsider opinions formed over years of skepticism.

As the Cowboys maintain their position in the NFC standings, Prescott‘s influence becomes clearer.

While not yet a top MVP favorite, his ability to elevate teammates and command respect makes him one of the most valuable players in the league this season.

By achieving what critics thought impossible, Prescott has redefined expectations for himself and the Cowboys. He is no longer just a high-floor quarterback; he is now recognized as a leader capable of changing minds and shaping the team’s success.
