Cristiano Ronaldo sparks optimism by sharing progress in his recovery after being left out of Portugal’s squad

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hamstring injury has kept him off the field since Al Nassr’s match against AlFayha (3-1) on February 28, when he had to be substituted.

For this reason, the coaching staff of the Portuguese national team and the Saudi club have decided not to risk the Portuguese star in the FIFA friendlies against Mexico and the USMNT and to prioritize his recovery. Now, “El Bicho” has shared updates on his health.

CR7 shares his training sessions

The Portuguese national team had hoped to have its captain available for the two friendlies ahead of the 2026 World Cup-against Mexico on March 28 at Estadio Banorte and against the USMNT on March 31 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta-but his injury has changed those plans.

However, although he has already been ruled out for both matches, the Portuguese star continues to work toward returning to the field as soon as possible. In fact, Cristiano has traveled to Madrid, Spain, to continue his rehabilitation.

Now, the 41-year-old surprised his 672 million followers on his official Instagram account by sharing two photos showing him training in a turquoise Nike outfit.

“Getting better every day,” he wrote in the caption of the post made on March 23, alongside an emoji of a flexing arm.

Fans, who are eagerly awaiting the return of their idol to the field, sent their love and best wishes to the Portuguese star: “Legends don’t quit, they rise again. “Can’t wait to see you back on fire!” said one of them. “Ready for the return,” wrote another. “Get well soon, GOAT,” wished a third follower. “The [goat emoji] doesn’t skip leg day,” noted another, surprised to see CR7’s defined muscles.

According to reports, Cristiano is set to play on April 3 in Al Nassr’s match against Al-Najma SC in the Saudi Pro League, where they lead the standings and are chasing the title. This match would be a great opportunity for him to regain competitive rhythm ahead of the high-intensity challenges remaining in the season, both with his club and his national team.

This way, Roberto Martínez could count on him for soccer’s biggest tournament and fight to bring home the first trophy.

Portugal will face Colombia, Uzbekistan, and the winner of the intercontinental playoff between Jamaica, Congo, and New Caledonia in Group K. On Wednesday, June 17, they will play their first match against the winner of the intercontinental playoff. On Tuesday, June 23, they will face Uzbekistan, and on Saturday, June 27, they will face Colombia.
