We will never know the truth behind Cristiano Ronaldo absence from the match between Mexico vs Portugal, but the reality is that he was the player everyone wanted to see at the Estadio Azteca reopening, a venue set to host the 2026 World Cup opening match.

Meanwhile, the Portugal star continues his training sessions. In fact, he was working out just hours before the 0-0 draw between the two national teams, raising questions about his absence.

Al Nassr shows off Cristiano Ronaldo training

Al Nassr once again shared images of Cristiano Ronaldo during his third day of training, after missing the Mexico vs Portugal friendly during the FIFA international window.

The Portuguese superstar reappeared publicly on Thursday through the club’s social media, showing images on the pitch – something that was repeated this Sunday, shortly after the international friendly.

While his return has sparked some controversy, everything points to a muscle injury recovery process that kept him out of action during this FIFA break.

Al Nassr will return to action next Friday against Al Najma in the Saudi Pro League, with expectations of having Cristiano Ronaldo back – the global football icon fans are eager to see ahead of the World Cup 2026.
