Cowboys suffer another unexpected setback as they try to recover from the death of Marshawn Kneeland

The Dallas Cowboys can hardly afford more turbulence, yet another setback arrived just as they continued to process the loss of Marshawn Kneeland.

This time, it was not roster changes or on field struggles, but a burst of harsh weather that forced the team to alter its Week 11 practice plan with little warning.

Players gathered at The Star in Frisco on November 14 expecting a routine session. Instead, rising winds swept across the complex, eventually climbing past 13 miles per hour.

The conditions became strong enough that coaches moved the workout indoors to the Ford Center, shifting the afternoon’s rhythm for a team already searching for stability after back to back defeats.

Now 3-5-1 and sitting second in the NFC East, the Cowboys remain outside the playoff picture.

Still, quarterback Dak Prescott continues to push toward ending the club’s long championship drought, insisting that practice disruptions will not undercut their effort to regain momentum.

Past tragedy heightens caution over indoor sessions

The decision to head inside might seem ordinary, yet it often sparks worry among fans who remember the horrific 2009 collapse of the Dallas Cowboys indoor facility.

Storm winds caused the structure to fall during a rookie mini camp, injuring 12 people and leaving special teams coach Joe DeCamillis with a broken back.

Roughly 70 individuals were inside when the canvas and aluminum frame failed.

Given that history, the organisation prefers to avoid taking chances with severe conditions. Many teams handle weather differently. Recently, the New England Patriots dealt with freezing temperatures, and coach Mike Vrabel allowed players to opt for an indoor practice.

But Drake Maye maintained it was “good to get used to playing in that weather…I think it’s an advantage.”

For the Cowboys, wind remains a sensitive issue, and their focus now shifts fully to their November 17 matchup in Las Vegas. Forecasts call for scattered rain, cool air near 55 degrees and steady southwest winds as they face the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Despite the unsettled conditions, predictions favour Dak Prescott and a Dallas win over the 2-7 Raiders.

With the YouTube TV Disney blackout resolved, an expanded audience is expected to tune in as Dallas attempts to steady a season still teetering on edge.
