Cowboys receive major Dak Prescott news with NFL season just 2 months away

With the 2025 NFL season two months away, teams are getting their act together and preparing for an intensive training camp and preseason process. Every team wants to get their regular season started on the right foot, but certain teams simply have more eyes on them than other franchises. The Kansas City Chiefs are one of them, and so are the Dallas Cowboys.

But while the Chiefs and other high-profile franchises have grown accustomed to success under the spotlight, the Cowboys have been the opposite. Despite several winning seasons in recent years, their lowlights stand out more than anything, particularly in the playoffs. That has put a target on the backs of their most famous personalities, with Dak Prescott dealing with heavy criticism, especially since he signed a record-breaking contract.

Prescott, as has been the case a few times now, had to spend his offseason rebounding a major injury. A hamstring injury that required surgery forced him to rehab intensively. But with the season two months away, Prescott says he’s ready to go right before training camp.

That sets the stage for a somewhat make-or-break season for Prescott. Now fully healthy and with George Pickens on the team to pair with CeeDee Lamb, there aren’t too many excuses left for Prescott if he doesn’t perform at a close to elite level in 2025.

If he doesn’t, the Cowboys could be looking at ways to get out of his contract and hit the reset button on the quarterback position in 2026.
