Cowboys’ injured running backs show encouraging signs at practice

In a hopeful development for the Dallas Cowboys faithful, in contrast to the Micah Parsons situation, veteran Miles Sanders and rookie Jaydon Blue are slated to participate in some capacity during this week’s practice. This potentially sets the stage for their return to form as they are expected to carry the load for the offense in 2025.

Miles Sanders poised for comeback

Veteran running back Miles Sanders sidelined by a knee issue, is slated to “do something in practice this week”, according to team statements citing offensive coordinator turned head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The phrasing suggests a cautious but optimistic ramp-up rather than full contact, reflecting the team’s attention to his long-term health.

Sanders has displayed flashes of explosiveness during camp and some insiders believe he has the freshest legs. That said, Sanders may have the best chance to emerge as the lead back once healthy, especially given his strong physical presence and experience.

Jaydon Blue’s recovery outlook

Rookie Jaydon Blue, Taylor High standout turned fifth round pick, is also expected to take part in practice this week, despite an earlier ankle/foot injury sustained during padded drills.

Initial reports describe the injury as a bruised ankle or foot, with Dallas staff optimistic that it’s not overly serious. Coach Schottenheimer noted signs of “significant progress” for both running backs, raising the possibility they could be ready in time for the upcoming game against the Ravens.
