Cowboys get lump of coal from NFL in schedule stocking with first stretch of its kind in NFL history

It’s impossible for the NFL to appease every franchise when it comes to delivering a schedule. There will always be a few teams who feel particularly slighted by the league, but in reality, it’s very hard to craft a perfect schedule for all 32 franchises. That said, the Dallas Cowboys may have a legitimate gripe.

The Cowboys want to get their season started on the right foot, following a rough 2024 season. That will be hard to do considering they will be facing the champion Philadelphia Eagles in the very first game of the season. That’s tough in and of itself, but it gets way worse later in the season.

Dallas Cowboys have hardest stretch in NFL history in 2025

As noted by CBS Sports, their research team discovered something incredible in regard to the Cowboys’ schedule. The NFL gave Dallas the toughest stretch of games ever seen in NFL history.

Starting in Week 12, the Cowboys will face the Eagles, Chiefs, Lions and Vikings in consecutive games, which will make Dallas the FIRST team in NFL history to play four straight games against teams that all won at least 14 games in the prior season. The Cowboys will also face the Chargers and Commanders in that stretch, so they’ll also become the first team in NFL history to play six straight games against teams that all won at least 11 games in the prior season.

It was expected since the end of last season that the Cowboys were set to have a difficult schedule in 2025, since their opponents were known. But the NFL did them no favors by putting so many of the best teams on their schedule in succession.

For a team that wants to rebound from a disappointing 2024 season, seeing that on the schedule could be a demoralizer. Thankfully, by Week 12, when that stretch begins, Dallas will know just how goor or bad their team is. They can then prepare for the worst and/or hope for the best.
