Cowboys fans rejoice: Trevon Diggs’ recovery sparks defensive optimism

A wave of relief and anticipation is sweeping through Cowboys Nation as Trevon Diggs continues to make impressive strides in his knee rehabilitation.

In a rehab video shared on Instagram, shot at Alkeme Sports Rx in South Florida and overseen by Dr. Sharif Tabbah, Diggs appears confident, powerful, and sharply mobile.

Gone is the previous hesitance; in its place is crisp, explosive movement that suggests he’s rounding into form.

Halfway through rehab, Diggs displays standout movement

The video showcases Diggs engaging in controlled lateral drills and bursts from a crouched position, demonstrating not only fluidity but also noticeably solid form, something sorely missed in recent seasons. The caption accompanying the footage read:

“He’s making more progress as we get closer to training camp.”

This moment signifies more than a training milestone; it’s a beacon of hope.

After suffering a chondral graft procedure in January 2025, as a follow-up to his torn ACL in 2023, Diggs is firmly reemerging as a disruptor in Dallas‘s secondary, and his resurgence couldn’t come at a better time

The timing also aligns with significant moves the Cowboys have made this offseason.

Despite bolstering their receiving corps with standouts like CeeDee Lamb and newly acquired George Pickens, and shoring up their running back group by adding Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders,Dallas‘s success will still rely heavily on its ability to stop opponents’ passing games.

That level of recognition from fans isn’t mere hope; it’s validation that the traits that defined Diggs‘s All-Pro performances are distinctly returning.

Many also drew parallels to 2021, when Diggs led the league with 11 interceptions and tied a Cowboys record.

Now, the sentiment is clear: “the ninja emoji? Perfect for a corner known for his stealthy route jumps.”

Yet, realism tempers this excitement. The Cowboys have engineered plans that factor in precaution.

According to team insiders, Diggs is expected to begin training camp on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, giving coaches extra control over his return timeline.

While that likely delays his official return, initial reports confidently aim for mid-August or shortly thereafter, ideal timing to shape up before the season opener.

Long-term performance is still being monitored. Dallas Cowboys VP Stephen Jones has already warned that knee recovery can be unpredictable.

“He’s making more progress,” Diggs‘s video caption hinted at, but team sources also warn that the pressure is on, given the state of depth at cornerback.

Despite those concerns, the mood is shifting. With DaRon Bland emerging as a capable fill-in and new DC Matt Eberflus steering a more effort-based secondary, the reintroduction of a healthy Diggs would elevate the group into a formidable unit.
