The Dallas Cowboys’ defense took a heavy blow when DE Chauncey Golston signed a three-year deal with the New York Giants for $19.5 million, with $12.25 million guaranteed, keeping him in the NFC East division.
Golston was a third-round pick in 2021 for the Cowboys from Iowa and is coming off a great season, the best of his career, where he made a big impact, recording 37 pressures and 5.5 sacks, making him a coveted target in Free Agency.
THE GOAL: KEEP MICAH PARSONS
Undoubtedly, the loss of Golston is painful for Dallas, but it could be the key to renewing the team’s defensive star, Micah Parsons, who is entering the final year of his contract and will seek to become a new millionaire in the NFL.
A few days ago, the Cleveland Browns made Myles Garrett the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL with $40 million, meaning Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ management would have to make a huge effort to keep Parsons.
In four years, Parsons has put up impressive numbers: 52.5 sacks, not only making him the star of the team but also one of the most important players in the National Football League.
