Cowboys’ decision on Odighizuwa could jeopardize Micah Parsons’ new contract

The Dallas Cowboys are caught in a familiar scenario, the push and pull of Jerry Jones for his key players, while spending money hand over fist on others who, while important, sometimes do not deserve the attention, nor all the resources that the team owner lavishes on them.

Jerry Jones and his strange perspectives

On this track, defensive players Micah Parsons and Osa Odighizuwa are dancing right now. The former is in the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, which is not very profitable in monetary terms, however, he knows what he is worth and will seek to live up to what he offers so that Jerry Jones will pay him what he deserves.

At the moment – and that’s the problem – Jones only has eyes for Odighizuwa, and some rumors indicate that he also wants to pay him a 4-year, $80 million contract, and without a doubt, $20 million per season is an excess for a player who, although he is an important part of the line, is not worth that much, not at the moment.

Micah Parsons knows his worth

The thing is getting complicated while Parsons waits in line, as his request will be as high as he thinks he deserves, and that will put Jones in the classic predicament that could trigger the usual, to let go of his figures by -the expression is worth- taking care of the cents and dispensing the pesos.

Parsons will be in the $30 million or more per year range, but if Dallas wants to pay him 20 just for Odighizuwa, isn’t this a complication? In this scenario, Dallas could even trade Parsons and that would be a disaster for a team that has not solved the most basic problems in other lines, of equal or even greater importance than the defense.

In the midst of all this, the Cardinals, Patriots, Giants, Bengals and Commanders are also lining up, waiting for Jerry Jones to discard Parsons, and are even willing to pay good money to help the Cowboys owner with his eccentric and bizarre domestic market outlooks.
