Hailee Steinfeld, the talented actress and fiancée of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, has been candid about her mental health challenges, a struggle that has prompted thoughtful actions from her partner. In her Beau Society newsletter, Steinfeld revealed that her anxiety has been “through the roof” at times, a burden she’s carried despite her success in the $314 million blockbuster Sinners.
The 28-year-old, who rose to fame with True Grit at 14, shared how the pressures of Hollywood and her 20 million social media followers have taken a toll, offering fans a glimpse into the realities behind her glamorous life.
Steinfeld’s openness about her mental health, compounded by an unspecified illness, has deeply influenced Allen. The couple, engaged since November 2024, faced unwanted attention when teammate Dion Dawkins accidentally leaked that their original wedding date (presumably on May 31, 2025), could be changed.
Dawkins, a longtime supporter of Allen, has celebrated his MVP win and even got a tattoo commemorating a 2024 play, but his slip-up added pressure to Steinfeld during a vulnerable time. In response, Allen took a firm stance, reportedly asking Dawkins to avoid public comments about their personal plans, a decision aimed at shielding Steinfeld from additional stress as she focuses on her well-being.
Allen and his teammates try to keep the secret to avoid unnecessary stress for Hailee?
“I don’t know nothing about that. I don’t know nothing about any of that. No, this is-I have no idea what is going on. We’re all here. We’re like-we’re all here in Buffalo working out. So, I’ll give those guys a FaceTime call and see how everything is going. But I have no idea. I have no idea“, Dawkins said on The Rich Eisen Show.
This is weird because Dawkins is the same teammate who had nothing but praise for Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld back on December 6, 2024, after the Bills’ game against the 49ers. Allen made history as the first NFL quarterback ever to record a rushing, receiving, and passing touchdown in a single game.
When asked about that performance, Dion Dawkins said, “It’s drastically different-our quarterback is engaged. It’s drastically different. There’s love in the air, man.” He seemed genuinely thrilled about Steinfeld’s influence, even calling her a lucky charm for the team. So why is Dawkins now saying he’s “in the fog” when asked about Allen’s wedding?
Steinfeld has found solace in stepping away from social media, a coping mechanism she shared to manage her anxiety. This choice aligns with Allen’s efforts to create a calm environment for her. While the wedding date remains unconfirmed, Allen’s actions show his priority is Steinfeld’s health over public scrutiny or team dynamics.
