Cooper Flagg had barely played his first Summer League game with the Dallas Mavericks, and he was already making waves. Not just because of what he does with the ball in his hands, but because of the energy he brings every time he steps on the court.

Flagg entered the NBA as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 Draft. His talent, athleticism, and basketball IQ all justify that status. But there’s something surprising even those who followed him during his college days: his fierce mentality and insatiable desire to win.

On Thursday, in an 87-85 win over the Lakers, Flagg recorded 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

It wasn’t his best shooting night (5-for-21 from the field, 0-for-5 from three), but his impact was undeniable. Still, when he stood in front of the microphones, he called it “one of the worst games” of his life.
