The boxing world is buzzing again, and this time it’s not just about the fighters in the ring-it’s about the fights that should be happening. Conor McGregor, the UFC’s brashest star, recently announced preliminary plans to box WWE superstar Logan Paul in India. While the news has generated plenty of headlines, former WBC International welterweight champ Amir Khan believes the real money fight would involve Logan’s younger brother, Jake Paul, instead.
Khan, a veteran of the ring and no stranger to the spectacle of modern boxing, didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts with The Sports Daily. “Logan is very beatable,” he said bluntly. “I think Conor knocks him out. Jake, on the other hand, would be a much bigger challenge and draw.” With Jake Paul riding high off a victory against Mike Tyson in a blockbuster bout, Khan sees him as the more skilled and marketable Paul brother.
Logan Paul, who famously went the distance against Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match, has shifted his focus toward WWE stardom, while Jake Paul has solidified his place as a legitimate threat in the ring. Amir Khan points out that Logan’s limited boxing skills and lighter punching power make him an easier opponent for McGregor, especially given the Irishman’s knockout pedigree.
Jake, on the other hand, has become a polarizing figure in combat sports, blending his showmanship with actual skill. His recent win over Tyson not only cemented his credibility but also brought Netflix to its knees with record-breaking viewership. Jake himself has stoked the fire, alleging that McGregor has been pushing to negotiate a fight through Jake’s promotion company, MVP.
A missed opportunity for McGregor?
According to Khan, a McGregor vs. Jake Paul fight isn’t just a better matchup in the ring-it’s a better product outside of it. “The trash talk alone would sell millions,”Khan explained.“They’re both excellent showmen. That’s the fight fans really want to see.”
The decision to fight Logan may come down to timing and logistics. Logan’s involvement in WWE gives him a crossover appeal that McGregor, fresh off a series of injuries, might find easier to navigate. Furthermore, Logan’s relatively weaker boxing resume could be the perfect comeback fight for McGregor to regain his swagger.
The future of the McGregor-Paul Saga
Jake Paul, never one to shy away from controversy, has been vocal about his desire to fight McGregor-on one condition. He insists that UFC President Dana White must be involved in negotiations. “Conor is washed,”Jake declared on social media. “He needs the Pauls. Logan by however he wants.”
As for McGregor, the clock is ticking. With 2025 shaping up to be a pivotal year for his career, the decision to face Logan or Jake could redefine his legacy. Whether fans get the bout they want or the bout McGregor chooses, one thing is certain: the Paul brothers and Conor McGregor are keeping the boxing world on edge.
