Conor McGregor has officially declared his candidacy for the presidency of Ireland, making the announcement on social media. The UFC superstar stated on Thursday that he is stepping into politics to ensure the people of his country have a real say in their future.

One of the key issues fueling McGregor’s campaign is the proposed EU Migration Pact. His stance against the bill has been evident, especially following his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, where he expressed his concerns about immigration policies.

A campaign driven by opposition to the EU Migration Pact

“The next presidential election must take place by November 11, 2025,” McGregor wrote. “Who else will stand up to the government and oppose this bill?”

The fighter-turned-politician insisted that no other candidate would be able to challenge the government effectively. “I will!” he declared.

A call for national debate

Despite his strong opposition to the bill, McGregor emphasized that the decision should ultimately rest in the hands of the Irish people. “All citizens of Ireland must have a voice and a choice in their future,” he stated.

He also welcomed discussions with officials who support the bill, indicating that he is open to debate.

McGregor’s political aspirations are not entirely new. Last year, he voiced his belief that Ireland needed an “active president employed wholly by the people.” Now, with the 2025 election approaching, he is making his ambitions official.

His message to the people of Ireland? “Vote McGregor and have your voice heard!”
