The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) and UEFA expect to decide the venue for the Finalissima between Argentina and Spain next week, a source from the South American soccer governing body told EFE on Thursday.

“Conmebol confirmed today with its UEFA counterparts that they could have a decision on the Finalissima next week,” the source said.

The match, scheduled for March 27, was to be played at the Lusail Stadium, but the Qatar Football Association announced last Sunday the suspension of all tournaments and competitions due to the instability in the area due to the armed conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran.

The Argentina national team, which in 2022 defeated Italy 3-0, is the current champion of the Finalissima, a tournament that was preceded by the Artemio Franchi Cup, which was won by France against Uruguay in 1985 and Argentina against Denmark in 1993.
