Concern for Caitlin Clark after her shooting struggles and devastated appearance: “She looks like she cried”

Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever‘s star and one of the most talked-about athletes in sports today, is facing a troubling stretch, both in terms of her performance on the court and her emotional well-being.

Following a series of poor shooting games, Clark appeared somber in a press conference, sparking an outpouring of concern from fans who suggested she looked visibly distressed.

Clark‘s recent shooting struggles were particularly apparent in back-to-back games against elite teams, where she went 10-of-34 from the field and an ice-cold 1-for-17 from three-point range.

After Indiana‘s 88-69 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, Clark opened up about her frustration.

“There are going to be stretches that are really good and there’s going to be stretches that aren’t as good,” she said.

“Obviously it’s frustrating. I felt like I shot it better tonight. A few that felt really good off my hand and it just didn’t go down. It is what it is. You come into the gym the next day and try to get better.”

Despite scoring 19 points and notching 10 assists in that game, the missed shots have become the focus, particularly for an athlete long celebrated for her elite shooting range.

Fans react to Clark’s emotional state

While slumps are part of every athlete’s journey, it was Clark‘s postgame demeanor that had supporters most concerned.

In a clip circulated widely online, Clark looked quiet, with red eyes and an almost tearful expression.

“She looks like she cried,” one fan commented.

“She looks so tired omg pls leave that girl alone yall,” said another.

“I think the pressure and hate actually got her,” a third fan added.

Her words reflect a broader struggle shared by many athletes adjusting to life under the spotlight, especially those who’ve ascended as fast and as visibly as Clark.

A long season ahead

While Clark‘s struggles have drawn criticism from some corners, others are urging perspective and patience.

As a rookie guard leading a rebuilding team, her load is heavy, and the defensive pressure she faces is intense. Head coach Christie Sides recently emphasized the team’s need to get Clark cleaner looks and better support.

Clark‘s impact on the WNBA is undeniable, she’s brought a surge in viewership, record-breaking ticket sales, and new fans to the league. But this difficult stretch reminds us that even the most transcendent athletes are human, susceptible to pressure, criticism, and burnout.
