Colin Cowherd urges Miami Dolphins to trade WR Tyreek Hill

Colin Cowherd isn’t holding back. This past Friday, he called for the Miami Dolphins to trade six-time All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill, asserting that the team needs to move on from the volatile superstar, for the good of their culture and long-term outlook. With the team starting training camp, and Hill present, the NFL analyst poses an interesting topic for the team ahead of this next season.

Cowherd recognizes Hill’s elite on-field performance, but insists the Dolphins must consider the bigger picture. In his argument, Miami should pivot towrd more reliable, foundational pieces that support both team culture and structural balance. While Hill remains oe of football’s premier talents, Cowherd believes the time has come for Miami to cut ties, before the drama outweighs the upside.

Cowherd cites Hill’s behavior and lack of consistency

Cowherd’s commentary centers on Hill’s off-field behavior and the growing distractions around him. He noted Hill stepped out of Miami’s 2024 season finale and publicly expressed a desire for a trade. Although Hill later apologized, Cowherd argued the incident left lingering tension within the organization.

In Cowherd’s view, Hill’s repeated drama overshadows his considerable talent. Despite being one of the most explosive receivers in NFL history, Cowherd believes Hill has failed to evolve, and that the Dolphins can no longer tolerate the unpredictability.

Cowherd prioritizes TE’s over WR’s

Cowherd compared elite wide receivers to Christmas tree toppers, visually impactful but not foundational. He argued that tight ends, who block and support the run game, often contribute more in adverse conditions like cold weather and playoff runs.

Using historical examples, he pointed to players such as Dez Bryant, Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, and Antonio Brown, legends who teams moved on from when leadership and locker room issues became limiting. Cowherd believes Hill’s declining off-field alignment makes him Miami’s next “move-off” candidate.
