Clint Dempsey furious during the United States’ loss to Panamá in the CONCACAF National League

The United States faced Panama in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Nations League, a competition it has dominated since it was invented and now, it seems, is being abandoned by its fans by being relegated to “a secondary role.”

This prompted an incendiary comment from Clint Dempsey, once one of the USMNT’s most lethal scorers, who delivered a strong message after seeing that SoFi Stadium did not have enough fans cheering on the national team in what will be the site of the next World Cup.

What did Clint Dempsey say after being pushed out of prime time?

“I think this is disrespectful,” said Dempsey addressing that the U.S. deserved to be the main show, as Mexico’s National Team would be in a ‘Prime Time’ as the second game on the cards.

“You gotta go out and prove you should be the main show,” he added after a first half where Mauricio Pochettino’s team failed to make a difference.

After losing to Panama, they will miss the grand final and will now play for third place next Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team suffered its first defeat as head coach of the USMNT after losing 1-0 to Panama, marking the third straight game in which the “Canaleros” have not lost to the United States.
